IIIT-B student makes glove to help motor neuron disease patients
BENGALURU: A visit to the Nimhans disability ward in January 2016 inspired Vinay Chandrashekar, an MTech student of the International Institute of Information and Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B), to develop a light-weight physiotherapy device for patients suffering from motor neuron diseases.
Over the next nine months, he made a glove for those who can’t use their right hand due to the disease. Now, he along with his professor, Madhav Rao, have devised a developed version of the glove for the left hand too, with funding from the ministry of social justice.
