Development of upper limb wearable assistive device

Creation of Electrically controlled robotic device for patient’s rehabilitation in the form of assisting hands, wrists, forearms, and arm movements.

Healthcare Sensor

The work aims to build device for patient's rehabilitation in the form of assisting hands, wrists, forearms, and arm movements. The work intends to develop electrically controlled robotic mechanism to fill the growing demand for stroke rehabilitation, which is important due to the shortage of therapists and limited existing medical devices. The rehabilitation centers are expensive and very few in number for an Indian ecosystem, hence a need to develop a wearable, portable device which can be used independently by the patients. The proposed device is an aiding tool to the clinical practice and allows patients to work on their own without being physically present in a clinic and report accurate quantitative results to the medical doctors. The device in the proposal aims to supplement the hand, wrist, forearm and arm related activities without deterring the existing capabilities of the disabled patients.
